Text: Understand the purpose, organisation, style and vocabulary of the range of texts.

Word: Identify mis-spelt words in own writing. Understand the use of prefixes and suffixes. Reinforce use of dictionaries and spellcheckers. Extend vocabulary.

Sentence: Write more complex sentences with a range of punctuation.

Mental:

Geography: Mountains of France.

Pupils will work with atlases, globes and maps at a range of scales. Analyse evidence of French lifestyle and draw conclusions. Consider the transport implications of travelling to France and the physical geography. Investigate employment, schooling, shopping and food.

Religious Education & PSHE:

Analysing choices and memories. What are memories? Are they happy or sad? Temptation in the Bible. Preparation for Secondary School. Sex Education (more details later in the term).

ICT:

Control/E-mail

Children will learn how to use control devices and be able to program sequences. Using e-mail to send and receive messages. Attaching text/images.

Design & Technology:

Fairground – control

Children will design and make a model of a fairground ride, including rotating movement.

Art:

What a Performance

Sketch and develop ideas for a headpiece for a character. Make & decorate a hat using a variety of techniques & materials.

Music:

Since the 30s

Covering: We’re going to the country, White cliffs of Dover, Blitz Night (composing), Summer Holiday and ‘This is our country. ‘

Swinging

Covering: African chant, Song for Oxum and improvising with music and visual art combined with music.

Physical Education:

Invasion games: skills and tactics for different games.

Athletics: running, jumping and throwing skills for different events.
